James Gonzales, et al vs Owens Corning

Consumer organizations filed an amicus brief in an appeal of a consumer class action against Owens-Corning alleging defective roof shingles. The groups argue that the decision in the Western District of Pennsylvania to overturn the case is erroneous, because whether the product in question is a washing machine, shingles or other goods, consumer cases are uniquely suited for class actions, and if the district court's view that consumer complaint cases should be brought individually is upheld, it would be the end of consumer class actions, which benefit consumers greatly. Read the amicus brief here.
