A permanent replacement of FHFA’s DeMarco is crucial

Coalition: National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC)

In a letter to President Obama, Consumer Action and supporting organizations ask that a recess appointment be made to fill the director position at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), currently being held by acting director Edward DeMarco. After DeMarco's decision to not allow the GSEs to participate in the Home Affordable Modification Program Principal Reduction Alternative (HAMP-PRA), a permanent appointment is seen as a crucial step in repairing the damage done by the housing crisis.
