Arbitration in America hurts consumers

In advance of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing entitled “Arbitration in America,” advocates warn that arbitration is a rigged system that has left little recourse for wronged employees and consumers.

Coalition members thanked Senate Judiciary Committee leaders for holding the hearing entitled “Arbitration in America” that looked at Corporate America’s alarming use of mandatory arbitration clauses. Advocates urged Congress to reform arbitration by eliminating forced arbitration clauses in consumer and worker contracts and by supporting the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act (“FAIR Act”). As it stands now, the law allows forced arbitration to block the courthouse door for American consumers and workers, and wipes away their access to justice when they are wronged.
