Groups strongly reject any loss of legal rights for consumer, small businesses

Advocates struck back at the concept that lawsuit abuse harms small businesses and job creators—pointing out instead that this tact almost always steals the right to justice away from consumers.

Consumer Action joined dozens of ally organizations in a letter to Rep. Charles E. Grassley, Chairman, and Rep. Dianne Feinstein, Ranking Member, of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary in advance of the committee's Nov. 8 hearing, “The Impact of Lawsuit Abuse on Small Businesses and Job Creators." The groups complained that while the rights of everyday Americans continue to be limited by courts and Congressional action and inaction, major corporations enjoy unfettered access to the courts... If there is any 'lawsuit abuse' in the system, it is laws and practices that prevent consumers and small businesses with legitimate claims from vindicating their rights in court."
