PROTECT students from predatory for-profit schools
The PROTECT Students Act of 2019 would safeguard students, including veterans and servicemembers, from predatory for-profit colleges and ensure higher education meets the needs of hard-working students.
Consumer Action joined coalition members in supporting the Preventing Risky Operations from Threatening the Education and Career Trajectories of Students Act of 2019 (PROTECT Students Act), introduced by Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). The bill represents common-sense consumer protections for students and holds predatory institutions, including for-profit schools, accountable when they engage in unfair, deceptive, and other fraudulent practices.
