Student Loan Borrower Assistance
Student Loan Borrower Assistance is the single best resource for borrowers to learn of their rights and repayment options for student loans. The site explains the often confusing terms associated with education loans, and identifies options like deferment, forbearance, and new programs such as income-based repayment (IBR) for those struggling to repay their loans. In addition to providing useful "self-help packets," the site also closely follows policy changes and new legislation that impact student lending. This resource was created by the National Consumer Law Center. They request that users first review the information on this site and e-mail only with general questions not answered here. This web site also includes links to referral resources for those who seek individualized legal advice or other help not offered here. Borrowers should also check out the self-help packets in English and Spanish on important topics of interest.
