New airline rules: Automatic refunds and no more hidden fees

The Transportation Department's new rules, Mr. Buttigieg said, will hold airlines to clear and consistent standards when they cancel, delay or substantially change flights, and require automatic refunds to be issued within weeks.
Passengers will get prompt refunds for cancellations or significant changes for flights and delayed bags, for any reason.
Airlines must give travel vouchers or credits to ticketed passengers unable to fly because of government restrictions or a doctor’s orders.
Fees for checked baggage and modifying a reservation must be disclosed upfront.
